HGTV Show focuses on Real Estate in Mount Washington

Submitted by on December 10, 2009 – 10:27 pmNo Comment

HGTV LogoMount Washington resident Paula Diamond is not a big TV watcher and had never seen the show Real Estate Intervention, but she and her home in the 5900 block of Smith Avenue were a part of the show this week.   Paula had purchased a home in Mount Washington in June of 2009 and the realtor was fellow Mount Washington neighbor Joan Goldman.  It was Joan who had heard that the television series was looking for Mount Washington homes for a show.

Real Estate Intervention  focuses on taking sellers on tours of other comparable properties in the same area.  A Real Estate expert accompanies the sellers to help them determine whether they have priced the house appropriately and how their house shows compared to other houses of a similar price.  In the Mount Washington episode, there are three homes all in and around Mount Washington that will be featured.  The show focuses on a couple of motivated sellers whose home is nearby – off of Falls Road between the Kelly Avenue bridge and Lake Avenue.  Paula Diamond’s house is one of the comparable houses; it was chosen because it had sold recently and quickly when Paula purchased it last June (the show was taped in July).  Another Mount Washington home in the show is one that was on the market at the same time as the house for sale, but had not yet sold.

Paula reports that she will not have a large role in the show herself, she was mainly asked about what she liked in the home and what features made her buy the home.  However, her home was toured and taped extensively during one very hot day last July.  She looks forward to gathering with other Mount Washington neighbors and watching how the show turns out!

Update: The show was originally scheduled to air Thursday December 10th at 10:30 on HGTV.  However, since writing this post, I have received word from the producer of the show that HGTV aired the show earlier this week.  It looks like the episode is probably going to be rerun on February 22nd at both 11 pm and 2 am – so get those DVRs set up and ready to record.
