Reminder about some of the April Events

Submitted by on April 6, 2010 – 9:45 pmNo Comment

There seem to be so many different things going on in and around our neighborhood as we are heading into Spring.  The next couple of months are busy with different events and activities.  I have been posting events in advance to give everyone a chance to get them into the calendar and sign up if needed.  However, the downside, is that I know there are some events that probably seem interesting, but you might forget by the time the date actually comes around.  You can always check out the calendar page here for events.  Here is a reminder about some of the events coming up this month (with links to more information about each):

The Storytelling for Resilience workshop, featuring presenter Nancy Mellon, is scheduled for April 9th and 10th at the Waldorf School.  ”This workshop provides an opportunity to delve into your own story by strengthening your intuitive and imaginative capacities. You will learn how and why to bring storytelling to life in your home, business or classroom and come away from this workshop wanting to bring storytelling to life’s challenges.”

The Spring Flower show at the Howard Peter Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens in nearby Druid Hill Park continues until April 11th.  The theme is the Wonderful World of Oz.

Park School will host a free screening of the acclaimed jazz documentary, CHOPS on Friday, April 9 at 7:00pm. CHOPS tells the story of a group of high school kids with extraordinary musical ability who learn to make the most of their gifts in a highly regarded public school jazz program in Jacksonville, FL.

The Baltimore Jewish Film Festival starts this week and runs for about 5 weeks (April 8 – May 17).  It includes ten films from different countries around the world.

Baltimore Spring Clean Up Day will occur on April 17th, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The electronics recylcing day is Saturday April 17th from 10 am – 3 pm.  This will take place in the parking lot behind the Starbucks next to Whole Foods.

The various healthy gardening and eating classes held by the Park School continue this month.  There are also healthy eating classes on Tuesdays at Whole Foods this month.
