Fashion Hound Benefit at Mt. Washington Mill — Saturday!
Lots of communities hold charity benefits. I’ve even heard of having a fashion show to raise money for a good cause. Only in Mt. Washington, however, will you find a fashion show benefit displaying the latest in human and canine couture.
Tomorrow from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the businesses at Mt. Washington Mill will be hosting “Fashion Hound” — an event where dogs and their owners can aid dogs with no owners. All proceeds from the day will be donated to B.A.R.C.S., a local animal rescue shelter.
The festivities begin on the patio outside of Whole Foods at 11:00 a.m. with a cookout featuring — you guessed it — hot dogs and veggie dogs.
The fashion show itself begins at 12:00. Local models and their canine companions will share the catwalk to flaunt the 2010 spring and summer lines from Holly G and Dogma (respectively).
After that, you might need to stop by the Mt. Washington Wine Company for a tasting of wines with precious pooches prominently plastered on the labels (12:00-3:00).
From 1:00-3:00, local author Michael Paul will be at Dogma for a book signing of The Adventures of Tiller and Turnbuckle, a swashbuckling adventure in which Grandpa Dachshund tells his seven grand puppies about the adventures of Tiller, the dachshund who loves to sail, and Turnbuckle, the calico cat who saves his life.
Now — I know that at this point you must be thinking: What? A charity dog fashion show and wine tasting without a raffle?
Well never fear, neighbors. You will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for any of a number of gift baskets, including ones from Holly G, Dogma, Mt. Washington Wine Company, and Whole Foods. The drawing will be at 1:00, so trot on down there early enough to get your tickets.
