MWIA Annual Meeting and Election; Robert E. Lee Meeting; Jones Falls Trail Walkthrough

Submitted by on June 4, 2010 – 11:25 pmNo Comment

This coming week plans to be a very full one for community related meetings and events.  Unfortunately, some of the events conflict in terms of time, but hopefully neighbors will get out and attend as many of these events as possible to show support for our neighborhood and get their voices heard on these many important issues.  On Tuesday, the MWIA is having its annual meeting and election.  The Mayor is scheduled to be the featured speaker at this event.  Also on Tuesday night there is a meeting about the future of the Robert E. Lee park.  This park is so close to Mount Washington that I know that many residents make great use of it and count it among the resources of the neighborhood.  If you want to become more involved in the planned renovations, the details of the advisory group meeting are below.  Finally, the Jones Falls trail walk through and meeting that were postponed due to weather a few weeks ago are going to be held on Thursday night.  Specifics and details for all of these meetings can be found below.

MWIA ANNUAL MEETING

The MWIA will be holding its annual meeting on June 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Mt. Washington Elementary School. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is this year’s featured speaker.

If you want your vote to count, this is the meeting to attend. Elections will be held for new board members and officers.

MWIA membership dues are $40 for 2010 and can be made online, by mail, or at the meeting.

The following are details from outgoing MWIA President Aaron Meisner:

The Annual Meeting will be coming up [Tuesday June 8th at 7pm] at Mt.
Washington Elementary School.

The Agenda will include:

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake
Excellence in Design Awards
Board Elections
Meet Your New MWIA President

A big crowd of Mt. Washington residents shows the Mayor that we are
engaged and represent an important constituency.

Hope to see you there!  This will also be a great opportunity to
become a member of the MWIA.  We will have the membership roster, so
if you’re not sure we can check for you before the meeting.

Aaron Meisner
President (for another week)

ROBERT E. LEE ADVISORY GROUP MEETING

The next Robert E. Lee Advisory Group Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 6:30-8:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Jefferson Building, located at 105 West Chesapeake Avenue-Room 104, Towson, Maryland 21204.  There is parking available on the street and in the garages located behind the building.

JONES FALLS TRAIL WALK THROUGH AND MEETING

As posted on the list serve by Mac Nachlas:

On Thursday June 10, Gennedy Schwartz of the City Department of Rec
and Parks will lead a walk along the proposed route of the Jones Falls
Trail north of the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital. We will meet at
7pm in the hospital parking lot to begin the walk. After the walk, we
will gather at the hospital to discuss the plans. This walk was
originally scheduled for May 18 and postponed due to weather.

Many thanks to Gennady Schwarz for leading the walk and to Robert
Imhoff and the Pediatric Hospital for hosting the follow on meeting.
