Exciting events for April – Starting Today!!
Spring has finally sprung here in Mount Washington. We are starting to have some beautiful warm days. The flowers are out and the gardens in the neighborhood are starting to look beautiful (big thanks to the Preservation Trust and all of the volunteer gardeners for the work in the community garden!). There are also a number of events going on in the neighborhood in the next few days and weeks. Below are a listing of some of them. Perhaps you want to take a walk through the neighborhood to go check out some of these events!
Shoezooz
In case you missed the first day, CertifiKid is still featuring the wonderful Shoezooz, created by a Mount Washington neighbor, Ellen Lichtman, on their site today. If you do not already know about this fun, time and aggravation saving product for the little people in your life, you can read our original review. If you buy Shoezooz through the deal, you get 2 packs, shipped, for only $8. If however, you miss out on this special deal, you can now buy Shoezooz at Towson Bootery in the Kennilworth Mall, Trohv (formerly Red Tree) on 36th Street and Soft and Cozy Baby on Fall’s Rd., in Hampden. They are anticipating adding their product to a few other local retailers soon (possibly even the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore gift shop!). Their idea has taken off and is not just being sold locally – they are now featured in several children’s shoe stores including one in Michigan and New Jersey (and hopefully a family-owned chain in Maine soon). In addition, they now have a distributor based in South Africa who is working to distribute Shoezooz throughout that continent!
Royal Things Truck Sale
I have featured Mount Washington neighbor Amber Royal’s Royal Things store several times in the past for their unique combination of selling jewelry, accessories and gifts while helping out the hungry. What started as a pop up store for a few months is still thriving in our neighborhood. Now, Amber is ready to show off her new spring colors. Royal Things is having a trunk sale today and tomorrow (April 15th and 16th) to introduce Amber’s Spring colors at 6083 Falls Rd.
La Chic Boutique
Another local store, owned by a neighbor, La Chic Boutique, is having a celebration to mark the 6 month anniversary of opening its store in the Mount Washington Village. On Saturday April 23rd, from 10 am – 6 pm, they invite all neighbors to come and help them celebrate the support of their business that has allowed them to thrive for the last six months. The celebration will also include special savings on select items in the store for the entire time from 10 am – 6 pm. Additionally, there will be hors de oeuvres and beverages available from 12 pm – 4pm and door prizes. The celebration is taking place in the boutique at 5614 Newbury Street in the Village.
Clayworks

Clayworks has a new show opening next week called Lagniappe, which means “a little something extra or an unexpected bonus.” The show runs April 23rd through May 28th. The opening is free and open to the public on April 23rd from 6-8 pm. For more details and to see some of the art, you can visit the Clayworks website. While you are there, you might want to check out the summer camp offerings in case you are still in search of a local option for your children this summer. There are full day and afternoon camps for lots of different ages and interests.
