Upcoming Neighborhood Events THIS WEEK – Tree Lighting, NW Park Plan, Holly*Daze, FACETS, Clayworks
There are quite a few events coming up starting tomorrow and continuing for the rest of this week in Mount Washington.
Northwest Park Master Plan Meeting: November 16th – 7:00 pm
First, tomorrow, November 16th, there will be a meeting with Baltimore City Recreation and Parks about the Master Plan for the Northwest Park. The meeting is open to neighbors to be a part of the process of deciding how this park will be used. The meeting will be at 7 pm at Springwell Senior Living on West Rogers Avenue.
Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Village Holiday Magic and St. John’s Holy*Daze: November 19th
Somehow, the annual tree lighting really snuck up on me this year. I asked around and was told that it is always the weekend before Thanksgiving, but somehow it seemed earlier to me this year. In case you did not realize either, please note that the event is THIS SATURDAY, November 19th starting. At 6:00 pm, neighbors will gather at the Johns Hopkins Mt. Washington Campus in the Octagon building for singing and refreshments (hot chocolate, cookies and cider). The actual tree lighting is scheduled for 6:30. This is a great event for children and a fun way to see neighbors and start off the holidays.
The event will be preceded by Holiday Magic in the Mount Washington Village from 4:00-8:00 pm. St. John’s is also holding their Holy*Daze at the same time. There will be food, vendors, raffles and more. Santa Claus is scheduled to be at St. John’s at 4 pm, followed by a magic show at 4:15. There will also be firefighters and their engine. Also starting at 4 pm, Lauren Muney is going to be creating hand-cut personal silhouettes, created only using scissors and done in 2 minutes. For more information, you can visit her website. The cost is $10 per silhouette or two of the same person for $15.
FACETS: November 19th and 20th
Neighbor and artist Shana Kroitz is going to be participating in FACETS this weekend at Cross Keys. If you are looking for unique and local holiday gifts, you may want to visit her there.
Clayworks Winterfest 2011 and Annual Holiday Sale: November 19th to January 6th; Jazz Preview Party: November 18th
Baltimore Clayworks’ Winterfest 2011 and annual holiday sale also start this week. It will be running from November 19th until January 6th. The opening reception will be this Saturday November 19th, 6-8 pm and is free to the public. Another way to preview the Winterfest is to attend the Jazz Preview Party this Friday, November 18th. This ticketed event allows attendees to preview the ceramics, while enjoying the music of TumbleHome along with drinks and light food.
